Nomination Statement:

I have over 10 years of hands-on experience helping companies to improve, redesign and implement business process, in order to become more agile and lean over and over again, working as a mentor, coach and consultant helping companies to reach successful outcomes, working in projects with more than 1.000 people. All my professional life is based on adaptation and operations management, making outcomes and milestones happen.

I’m involved in leading BPM communities (WfMC; OMG; W3C; IEEE, Cloud Standards Customer Council) where I help to create standards and new methods that pre-empt organizational challenges and help BPM professionals to apply at large new concepts globally. Locally in my country I’m VP of ABPMP Portugal were I train professionals to succeed.

As a recognized BPM professional, I’m the co-author of the book How Knowledge Workers Get Things Done.

Description: Ottesen_Christian

Christian (Chris) specializes in helping Deloitte Consulting’s client service teams get off to the right start with Deloitte’s methods and tools as part of our Global Methods and Tools organization (GCMT). He is a Certified Business Process Management Professional (CBPP), and certified Project Management Professional (PMP). He served the BPM profession over the last two years on the international board of directors for the Association of Business Process Management Professionals (ABPMP) as the Vice President of Information Services. He is also a credited reviewer of the Third Edition of the Business Process Management Common Body of Knowledge. Chris has spoken on the topic of Business Process Analysis for audiences at Gartner Group, Process World and is in high demand at Deloitte globally for his knowledge and pragmatic approach to integrating BPM with large scale business transformation programs. In addition to traveling the world working with some of Deloitte Consulting’s largest clients, his current professional interests are around studying the application of agile project management methods on large scale business process transformation efforts to help drive value faster.

Relevant project experience

Chris had over 26 years’ experience working with clients to bring practical solutions for complex business problems including large scale ERP software implementation, business processes enhancement, organizational change management and complex system integrations in a variety of industry segments. His prior experience in both tax and auditing bring a unique perspective to international supply chain projects involving global business process design for tax optimized solutions.

Chris has extensive experience with Deloitte’s Global Methods and Tools organization developing multiple versions our Enterprise Value Delivery (EVD) methods used on projects around the world as well as having lead the design, development and deployment of the IndustryPrint 5 Business Process Analysis (BPA) system. This solution is a winner of the 2011 Process World Innovation Award and is the largest ARIS implementation in the world serving over 700 client projects and hundreds of users every day.

Candidate:
Chris Ottesen, CBPP

Quite simply, I want help to bring the value and recognition our members receive from obtaining and maintaining the CBPP designation to the next level.
As I wrap up my current term as ABPMP's Vice President of Information Services, I can point to two significant achievements: 1) The transition to our new state of the art membership management software platform provided by YourMembership that allows for automating key parts of the CBPP application and renewal process, and 2) the selection and on boarding of our new Association Management Company (Ewald Consulting) to provide better administration and customer service to our membership. Combined, these provide the critical infrastructure to help us move ABPMP to the next level and have allowed us to put in place our renewal process for CBPP whose credentials are up for renewal in 2014.
Looking forward, if elected as your next Vice President of Certification, I would like to build on our recent accomplishments to boost the value of the CBPP designation to current and prospective members of ABPMP by:

  • Streamlining the CBPP application evaluation and candidate consideration process. Responses should be more prompt and candidates should be provided with meaningful feedback on their applications
  • Updating the CBPP exam bank with even more real world questions and providing a forum for our global membership to proactively contribute to this process. This should represent the breadth of continuously evolving topics included the BPM-CBOK
  • Putting infrastructure in place to offer the CBPP examination electronically in more major market languages around the world
  • Enhancing the visibility of the CBPP credential at global and BPM regional conferences and with major commercial and governmental employers around the globe

I am very proud of my association with ABPMP, believe strongly in the global impact of the BPM profession and look forward to helping my colleagues around the world bring the CBPP designation to the next level of global recognition.

Claire WybrowClaire Wybrow is a trusted advisor to Fortune 500 companies who has been delivering value as a business process management expert for over 20 years. She is a founding member of the ABPMP CBPP Certification Committee and played a key role in developing the examination questions and the analysis, recommendation and selection of the examination vendor. She continues to serve as a Certification Committee member today.
As a Senior Consultant with Allegient, LLC., Claire works across a range of Fortune 500 companies to smaller nonprofits. She is currently leading a Global Automotive Manufacture through the process of adapting, developing and implementing an Enterprise Process Framework (EPF). This EPF, adapted from APQC and SCOR, is approved an executive level across all areas of the business and governance and implementation are now underway. Prior to Allegient, Claire worked as a Principal Consultant for Nisys, LLC, co-founded AIDS Mission organization, Loving South Africa, and worked in South Africa as IT Systems Manager for Unilever, Tibbett & Britten and Retail Apparel Group.

Claire has been instrumental in building the foundations of each corporate and nonprofit company she has worked for including implementing repeatable methodologies such as Project Management Methodology, Business Process Management Methodology, Nonprofit Mission Management Methodology, Collaboration Enterprise Governance and Center of Excellence and Governance Methodology. Claire is an accomplished facilitator skilled in business process analysis, modeling and management.

Claire was a final nominee for the 2010 Leading Light Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Manufacturing Industry & Distribution Transportation and in 2012 the Leading Light Award for Leadership. She is a repeat speaker at the PMI CIC Professional Development Day.

As part of the originating CBPP Certification Committee who developed and implemented ABPMP’s certification, Claire has a unique understanding of the strategies required to develop the CBPP Certification to the next level including developing and implementing additional certifications levels as envisioned.

Nomination Statement:

I would like to nominate myself for the position of Vice President of Certification. As you are aware I have been on the Certification Committee from its inauguration and am eager to see additional components of the original vision come to life such as the development and implementation of the Associate Certification, updates to the existing exam based on exam results analysis, additional improvements in the process for receiving and approving application as well as analysis of and capitalization strategy based on metrics such as applications vs. certifications achieved, number of members versus certifications etc.

I am able to dedicate more time to the process work I am passionate about as some obligations I had for the nonprofit I co-founded have eased up. I am based in Indianapolis and look forward to the opportunity to attend Board Meetings and meet in person so many I have worked collaboratively with over the last few years.

As I mention in my bio I have been doing significant enterprise process work over the last two years with a Global Automotive Manufacturer which has been both challenging and inspiring. I operate equally well as a project manager and a process professional and believe both these skill are needed to take our certification to the next level. Success being enabled by vision, planning, communication, a regular schedule of Certification Committee meetings, deliverables and due dates and ultimately accountability to the ABPMP board and fellow volunteers who are investing their time to deliver a quality product to our community.
