AI technologies are rapidly entering the market and adoption is shifting from limited experimentation to full implementation.  At the same time, regulators are increasingly vocal about AI-related concerns and new laws are beginning to come into force.  Join us for a conversation that explores the current state of AI, with a focus on: present-day, real world applications of AI; best practices for AI selection and deployment; and the legal and regulatory landscape for AI, with an eye toward emerging laws, cross-border considerations, data privacy and cybersecurity compliance, intellectual property protection, and the current litigation environment.  In addition, we will specifically explore how AI technologies are impacted by emerging US national security concerns and the wide range of regulations addressing trade in technology.  Finally, we will conclude with a discussion around AI governance, in particular how organizations can best deploy effective governance structures to manage AI and mitigate its inherent risks.

Ryan T. Sulkin

Ryan is a partner at Benesch and serves as the group lead for the firm’s Data Protection Practice Group. His practice resides squarely at the intersection of technology and data, and Ryan regularly advises clients with respect to complex technology transactions, including SaaS, cloud, software development, professional services, and outsourcing arrangements. He also provides clients with risk-based and actionable legal counsel on data privacy and cybersecurity matters across a wide range of data-rich, highly regulated industries, including financial services, payments, health care, higher education, retail, hospitality, and technology. Additionally, Ryan’s cybersecurity experience includes designing security programs to protect trade secrets and building data governance programs that have addressed the proper management of trade secrets.
